Taking Care: Supporting Parents and Grandparents

This parent support and spiritual care group will begin in October and be led by UMC Deacon, Rev. Michelle Whitfield, LCSW. The group will serve the parents and grandparents of children who have developmental challenges and special needs. We will focus on the emotional and spiritual care of parents and grandparents. Our journey will include addressing those difficult spiritual questions we ask ourselves when caring for children with intense needs. The group will also seek to improve guidance techniques, reduce parenting stress, and affirm our families’ participation in a faith community. Details: October 2nd-October 23rd, Sundays 9:45-10:45 am, First United Methodist Church in Little Rock. Confidentiality of group content will be maintained. Coffee and light refreshment will be served. Child care is provided. Contact: Michelle at 501-539-8136 or michelle.whitfield@arumc.org. more...

Volunteer Opportunity - Meet the Truck

MEET THE TRUCK is a volunteer opportunity for the Back Pack program. It involves meeting the truck bringing our Backpack food supplies from the Arkansas Food Bank on the Tuesday afternoons listed below. Backpacks are for our partner schools, Booker Elementary and Franklin Elementary. Four volunteers are asked to be at the courtyard gate at 2:15 p.m. and unload the food onto carts and move into the food storage room.  It would be a good service project for a Journey Group or other group that is available during the day or for anyone who has the time to support this wonderful FUMC Ministry.  For more information or to sign up please contact Anthony Falkowski at afalkowski@fumclr.org or call him at 501-372-2256, ext. 219.more...
