Sacred Conversations - Aug. 17th- Sept. 21

In a dualistic world that sees things as either sacred or secular, physical or spiritual, we need more spaces where we find the sacred in the mundane or the spiritual meeting the physical. Sacred Conversations is an opportunity for people to gather in the midst of their everyday lives and engage in conversations to see the sacred all around them.  Each Wednesday at 12:10, these discussions, led by David Freeman in the Cokesbury Center, will explore questions such as "How do I find more purpose and meaning in my life?" "How do I think theologically about current events in our world?" and "What is the connection between my work and my faith?" There will be no homework or preparation required. Just bring a brown bag lunch and join us Wednesday for 6 weeks beginning August 17th (through September 21). We will be finished by 1:00 each time. Invite your co-workers and friends.more...

Luncheon with the new LRSD Superintendent Michael Poore

August 28th we will welcome a special guest, Michael Poore, the new Superintendent of the Little Rock School District. Mr. Poore will join us for our First Tradition service followed by a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall. There he will share his vision for the LRSD, and we will have a time for discussion and questions. As we seek to make Little Rock a place where children THRIVE, the health of Little Rock schools is a major priority for our church. Please make plans to attend this luncheon and conversation. You may make reservations by August 24th by contacting the church office (501-372-2256 or kjohnson@fumclr.org). The cost for lunch will be $7.more...
